The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship has lifted the order that canceled live bird exhibitions at fairs and other gatherings. The order was issued on March 23 because of the outbreak of avian flu in domestic bird flocks in the state. It has been 30 days since the last confirmed case of avian flu in Iowa, so state agricultural officials today lifted the order. All poultry exhibitions must be registered with the state agriculture department at least 30 days before an event. The outbreak of avian flu resulted in about 13.4 million birds being killed.
