If you’ve noticed new artwork in some of the community’s neighborhoods, it’s likely the product of last month’s Art Week, which featured 136 events and 152 local artists in six areas throughout the city. Art Week was started eight years ago by art collector and business owner David Safris and a group of volunteers to celebrate local artists and their work. This year it was held June 17-23 and included events in the Oak Park/Highland Park business district, the Drake/Dogtown neighborhood, the Franklin Area, the downtown district, Columbus Park and Valley Junction. Here are just a few examples of the lasting work in the Drake/Dogtown area from Art Week. For more, check out their Facebook page.
