Burke is a Marshalltown native who is relocating to her hometown from the Omaha area, where she was a project manager for Omaha Public Schools. The MACC includes the Fisher Art Museum and the Martha-Ellen Tye Playhouse, both named after the Fisher family. “I know that most of our community did not experience the days when Bill and Dorothy Fisher (and Bill’s sister Martha-Ellen Tye) were alive, but I want everyone to know that their vision was for everyone. Marshalltown of the past, present and future,” Burke said in a press release. Burke said her goal is for the MACC to be “a hub of civic and cultural activity with events and programming for all ages.” A 2021 story on the renovation of the MACC is on the Business Record website (Insider).
