Iowa Department of Transportation Director Mark Lowe resigned Friday under orders of Gov. Kim Reynolds, the Des Moines Register reported. He will leave Jan. 10. Neither Lowe nor the governor’s office gave much insight into why Reynolds wanted Lowe out. He resigned effective Jan. 10. His position was at-will, meaning he could be dismissed for any reason. “Governor Reynolds appreciates Director Mark Lowe’s years of service, and has decided to seek a change in leadership as she continues to build her administration,” said Pat Garrett, Reynolds’ spokesman. In a letter to his staff, Lowe wrote: “Let me start by assuring you there are no complaints or investigations that preceded this and that should not be a worry for you as a member of the agency.” Here’s our Closer Look on Lowe.
