The American Heart Association is seeking to raise more than $750,000 in corporate sponsorships and individual donations through the annual Greater Des Moines Heart Ball, to be held Feb. 15 at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center. Doug Fiore, president of Mercy College of Health Sciences, will chair the executive leadership team for this year’s fundraising event. The association is currently investing more than $9.5 million into research and education projects in Iowa as part of its goal to reduce deaths from heart disease and stroke by 20% while improving the lives of all Americans by 20% by the year 2020.
