Marshall named vice chairman at Hy-Vee

Marshall, who has held several positions at the West Des Moines-based company in the past 38 years, will continue overseeing the operations of Hy-Vee’s supply chain and subsidiaries and will assist Randy Edeker, the company’s president and CEO, in leading the company through the rapidly changing retail climate, according to a news release. Marshall began working at Hy-Vee in 1982, filling a variety of leadership roles at both the store and corporate level. Most recently, he has served as executive vice president, co-chief operating officer and president of Hy-Vee subsidiaries/commissaries. In addition, Darren Baty, an executive vice president, will take on the role of executive vice president, chief merchandising officer. Baty will oversee merchandising as well as other areas of the company, such as health and beauty, floral, procurement and advertising. Two Hy-Vee executives retired this month: Brett Bremser, who had been executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, and Craig Clasen, who had been senior vice president of retail business development.
