Goodwill of Central Iowa is expanding their corporate e-waste program after recycling 309,000 pounds of electronic waste from landfills in 2019, the organization said in a statement this week. Goodwill accepts old monitors, printers, cables, routers, phones, tablets and other electronic accessories as part of the e-waste recycling program. In the Des Moines metro, 24 million pounds of e-waste is generated each year, and only about 13 million pounds is recycled, Goodwill said. Last year, the organization raised $27,500 by refurbishing and selling electronics with useful life left on shopgoodwill.com/des-moines, with revenue supporting Goodwill’s paid employment training programs. Goodwill has on-site pickup options and donation drive bins available for placement to interested organizations.
