Brittany Appelgate has left her position as director of Capital Crossroads to accept a position as senior social impact and sustainability specialist with Wells Fargo.

Appelgate joined Capital Crossroads in May 2021, filling a position that had previously been held by Emily Kessinger.

During her time at Capital Crossroads, Appelgate helped lead the process to develop the 2040 Vision Plan for Central Iowa, including the distribution and collection of data from a community health needs assessment, and recent public input meetings called the “The Big Sort,” to gain public input.

Appelgate joined Capital Crossroads as part of a new leadership model where she retained her position with consulting firm SPPG, which Capital Crossroads partnered with for the development of its long-range plan.

SPPG provides administrative, marketing and other support services to Capital Crossroads, with the director’s position fully funded by Capitol Crossroads.

Krisi Knous, one of the chairs of Capital Crossroads, said the relationship with SPPG will continue as Capital Crossroads continues work on the 2040 plan.

“In 2021, Capital Crossroads leaders made the decision to work with SPPG to provide staffing for Capital Crossroads,” Knous said in an email. “Since that time Britney and her colleagues at SPPG have done a wonderful job of implementing our region’s vision plan alongside the many volunteer leaders of Capital Crossroads. We are confident that the team at SPPG will ensure a seamless transition and continue to serve Capital Crossroads well.”

Correction: This version corrects the spelling of Britney Appelgate’s last name.
