The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority is offering an opportunity for people to put their driving skills to the test during a hiring event Nov. 2-3. Potential applicants will be able to drive a DART bus through a skills course at the Iowa State Fairgrounds between 2 and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, and from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3. Applicants should bring their driver’s license and enter the fairgrounds off University Avenue, park in the grassy lot and go to the Midway. DART staff will be on hand to answer questions, take applications and complete interviews. A commercial driver’s license is not required for hiring. If hired, DART will provide training and CDL support, officials said in a news release.
