The Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute announced Thursday the participants in the 2023 class of the institute’s Youth Leadership Initiative program. The class of 36 students from 20 public and private schools across Greater Des Moines will receive hands-on leadership experiences that build self-confidence and encourage engagement in all levels of community life. According to a news release, the goals of the tuition-free program are that students value community involvement, demonstrate an understanding of career opportunities and the five practices of exemplary leadership, and have developed lifelong relationships with peers, mentors and community members.
