The Food Bank of Iowa will be celebrating its 40th anniversary Wednesday with an event at its offices and distribution center on East 17th Street in Des Moines. The event will include comments from Food Bank of Iowa CEO Michelle Book and a tour of the Food Bank’s distribution center. The event is scheduled from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The anniversary comes as the Food Bank of Iowa reported another record month in its efforts to fight food insecurity in Iowa. The Food Bank and its partner agencies served more than 136,000 people and nearly 50,500 households in its 55-county region in July.
