New nonprofit launches, focused on Iowans with disabilities and brain health

Connexus Behavioral Health and Disability Advocates  Connexus Advocates for short  is a new nonprofit, launched to provide affordable, stable housing dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals living with intellectual or developmental disabilities or brain health conditions. Connexus Advocates is headquartered in West Des Moines. The organization owns and manages community-based residential homes, where residents receive long-term supported living and short-term crisis recovery services, with plans for future expansion. “Navigating the challenges of an intellectual disability or experiencing a brain health condition can be complicated, frustrating and sometimes even confusing,” said Liz Cox, executive director of Connexus. “Connexus Advocates customizes homes to provide the right level of support that integrates individuals into their neighborhood, benefiting the person, their family, and their community.” More information is available on the nonprofit’s website.
