Gov. Kim Reynolds announced today that $19.9 million has been awarded to 16 organizations through the Iowa HOME Grant Program. According to a news release, the funding will support more than 90 families through the development and rehabilitation of single-family homes and down payment assistance initiatives. Twelve of the recipients are Habitat for Humanity affiliates throughout the state. The affiliates will use the funding to construct 69 single-family homes to be sold to income eligible families. Another project in Muscatine will produce six 3D-printed homes for first-time homebuyers with a specific focus on first-time qualified homebuyer teachers. The program had $20 million available for awards and received 24 applications requesting more than $30 million in funding, the release said. The Iowa HOME Grant Program was created as a part of Reynolds’ $100 million investment aiming to increase the supply of housing options and protect and expand housing opportunities. The funds are made available through the Federal American Rescue Act State and Local Fiscal Relief Funds. The full list of awardees is available at this link.
