BY EMILY KESTEL: It’s currently estimated that just 19% of English Wikipedia biographies are of women. British physicist Jess Wade saw that statistic and decided to take matters into her own hands. Since 2017, she’s written more than 1,750 Wikipedia pages for female and minority scientists and engineers whose accomplishments were not on the site. She said Wikipedia is a powerful way to give credit to the people who have been written out of history. “We do an awful lot of talking about underrepresentation, but not enough acting on it,” Wade said. Read the Washington Post article.
