Reynolds announces funding to clear Veterans Trust Fund backlog

Kim Reynolds has approved $440,000 to cover a backlog of grants from the Iowa Veterans Trust Fund for eligible veterans and their families for expenses related to dental care, education or emergency needs. The funds will come from the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds of the American Rescue Plan Act. The Iowa Veterans Trust Fund program was suspended due to insufficient funds but will now be able to process payments for grants approved between March 3, 2021, and Nov. 3, 2022. No further action is required from veterans whose applications were approved and are waiting for payment. The Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs will begin processing payments immediately.
