The Food Bank Iowa has received a donation of 9,000 dozen eggs (108,000) from farm company Versova. According to a news release from Food Bank of Iowa, eggs are among the most requested items by families visiting food pantries. The donation was especially welcome because of decreased availability resulting from the avian flu outbreak over the past year. According to the release, Food Bank of Iowa experienced seven months in 2022 with few or no eggs in its inventory. Despite the issues related to the avian flu outbreak, Versova still donated 119,000 dozen eggs to the Food Bank of Iowa last year.
