UI’s ‘Mini Medical School’ program comes to Des Moines

145 wordsAll Latest News, Health and WellnessThe University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine’s “Mini Medical School” program will hold an event open to the public in Des Moines on Tuesday, April 11, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The program is designed to help the public better understand how biomedical discoveries translate into lifesaving treatments and care. Attendees of all ages will participate in an immersive, interactive program on innovative brain science called “Lighting Up Our Brains: Better Understanding Mental Illness through Advanced Discoveries,” presented by UI physician Dr. Gerard Clancy.
Clancy will discuss research supporting progress in addressing mental health needs and treatments in Iowa as well as the effects of the pandemic on health care systems and providers.
The event will be at the UnityPoint Health Education and Research Center located at 1415 Woodland Ave., Suite 130, in Des Moines.
