The Wells Fargo Foundation recently announced a $240,000 grant for Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity to support low-to-moderate-income families in building and improving affordable homes. The grant will help construct three new affordable homes and complete critical repairs and modifications for low-income homeowners. The announcement coincided with the conclusion of a weeklong repair event in Des Moines, where GDM Habitat staff and volunteers, including dozens from Wells Fargo, constructed accessibility ramps and completed other repairs and modifications to enable older homeowners to remain in their homes. This grant is part of Wells Fargo’s larger $7.5 million commitment to Habitat for Humanity International through the Wells Fargo Builds program, which will support the construction, renovation and repair of more than 360 affordable homes in the U.S. Since 2010, Wells Fargo and the Wells Fargo Foundation have donated more than $129 million to Habitat for Humanity International and local affiliates.
