The American Cancer Society will host its 16th annual Coaches vs. Cancer Gala, presented by Hy-Vee, on May 12 at the Meadows Events and Conference Center at Prairie Meadows. The event will bring together four universities as one team to fight against cancer. Coaches Ben Jacobson (UNI), Darian DeVries (Drake), Fran McCaffery (Iowa) and T.J. Otzelberger (ISU) will attend the event to raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s mission to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research and patient support. The proceeds will be used to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat and survive cancer. The Coaches vs. Cancer Gala in Iowa is part of a nationwide effort to unite coaches and fans to defeat cancer. The event has raised nearly $6 million since 2007, and the community is invited to join the team by purchasing tickets to attend in person or by registering for the auction to bid on packages or make a donation to provide a Cancer Care package to cancer centers across Iowa.
