Wells Fargo & Co. has donated $100,000 to Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity through the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation Priority Markets Program. On Friday, Wells Fargo team member volunteers will join Habitat to celebrate the grant and take part in Habitat’s Blitz Build, helping build five houses in one week in Des Moines’ Martin Luther King Jr. Park neighborhood. The grant is part of $6 million awarded to 54 nonprofits nationwide through the 2014 Wells Fargo Housing Foundation Priority Markets Program to help revitalize neighborhoods affected by the economy. Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity will use the grant toward the Viva East Bank! project, a collaboration of the Capitol East, Capitol Park and MLK Jr. Park neighborhoods to revitalize the area by improving homes for existing residents and also attracting new residents.
