Grant Friesth, senior vice president for commercial lending at Wells Fargo Bank, would complete city of Des Moines appointments to the Iowa Events Center Hotel Corp. if the City Council votes Monday to approve his appointment. The nonprofit organization would own and operate a proposed $101 million convention center hotel. He would join former city finance director and deputy city manager Allen McKinley as the two Des Moines appointments to the seven-member board. The Polk County Board of Supervisors is expected to approve its four remaining appointments to the board. Supervisors previously named Knapp Properties Inc. President and CEO Gerry Neugent as the first director of the IEC Hotel Corp.
