Facebook to build third data center in Altoona
Facebook today said it will build a third data center in Altoona, confirming its initial plans for the site. The first building was announced in April 2013, and the second a year later. This is the first time Facebook has built a third data center on one site. The second building will go online later this year. The third center will be powered by electricity from a wind farm in Wellsburg. Facebook didn’t provide a cost estimate for the construction. The company has 80 full-time employees and 350 construction workers in Altoona.
