DART commission elects new officers
Windsor Heights City Councilman Steve Peterson has been elected chairman of the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority commission. Peterson represents Clive, West Des Moines and Windsor Heights on the panel, which supervises the DART bus services in the area. He replaces Steve Van Oort, a Polk County supervisor and former Ankeny mayor. Urbandale City Councilman Tom Gayman, who represents Grimes, Johnston and Urbandale on the commission, will serve as vice chairman. Des Moines City Councilman Bob Mahaffey, who represents Des Moines and Pleasant Hill, was elected secretary/treasurer.
