Iowa EPC looks to save topsoil, Jordan aquifer
The Iowa Environmental Protection Commission on June 16 will discuss controversial rules on how much topsoil developers must leave on the ground after construction.
The governor-appointed panel, which writes environmental rules enforced by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, also will consider regulations meant to preserve the Jordan Aquifer, a major source of drinking water stressed by demand in recent years. The meeting begins at 10 a.m. at the DNR’s Windsor Heights office, 7900 Hickman Road. Read more
