Schipper to retire as state banking chief

Iowa Division of Banking Superintendent James Schipper will retire Oct. 8.  He was appointed to the position by Gov. Terry Branstad in January 2011. “The Iowa banking industry is strong and growing stronger,” Schipper said in a release. He is chairman and co-founder of American State Bank in Osceola and has been active with the Iowa Bankers Association. Branstad said in a release that he will name a successor at a later time. Read more about Schipper.
