BTC Financial Corp., the parent of Bankers Trust Co., was named among American Banker magazine’s top mid-tier banks. Meta Financial Group Inc., the Sioux Falls, S.D.-based parent of MetaBank, which has three branches in Greater Des Moines, also was named to the list. The rankings were based on three-year average returns on assets for banks with between $2 billion and $10 billion in assets. BTC Financial, with assets of $3.5 billion and an average return of 11.85 percent, was ranked No. 38. Meta Financial, with assets of $2.1 billion and an average return of 11.66 percent was ranked No. 44. Heartland Financial USA Inc. of Dubuque and Hills Bancorp. of Hills also made the list.
