Up to 13,000 people are expected to tour eight homes priced from $534,500 to $850,000 over the next three weekends at the Estates at Prairie Trail in Ankeny.

This is the 40th year for the Home Builders of Greater Des Moines HomeShowExpo, and as is the norm, the latest trends in relatively high-end house construction and decor will be on display.

Here are some of the features that will be on display from builders Bella Homes, Caliber Homes, Dreamscape Homebuilders, Giovanti Homes, Luxe Homes, MJ Properties, Meadowbrook Builders and Platinum Development:

• Hidden rooms and pantries.
• Commercialized kitchens.
• Charging countertop.
• Marble and quartzite counters.
• Wet bars.
• Tucked-away corners, nooks and lofts for kids and adults.
• Custom built-ins.
• Shiplap siding.
• Outdoor living spaces, including fireplaces and fire pits.
• Master suites.
• Energy-efficient programs.
