The first development project in eight years is set for Knapp Properties Inc.’s Airport Commerce Park South with plans for a Homewood Suites hotel near 7201 S.W. 22nd St. Knapp President and CEO Gerry Neugent said another project is pending, with the future development tied to expansion plans for the Des Moines International Airport and the expected designation of Iowa Highway 5 as a federal interstate. The 100-acre area was created in the late 1990s and experienced a rush of development activity soon after. In 2007, Vatterott College constructed a campus in the commerce park.
