Homebuilders’ confidence at highest level in nearly a decade

Builder confidence in the market for new single-family homes in July hit a level of 60 on the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index, the highest level since November 2005, according to a release. The June reading also was revised upward to 60, as well. Two of the three components of the index posted gains this month. The measure of current sales conditions rose one point to 66, and sales expectations in the next six months increased two points to 71. Meanwhile, the component measuring buyer traffic dropped a single point to 43.
