Hotel Fort Des Moines history up for sale
A massive sale of Hotel Fort Des Moines memorabilia is set for Aug. 7-9 on the second floor of the Clemens Building at 200 10th St. (formerly the Raccoon River Brewing Co.), according to Des Moines Register columnist Daniel Finney, who writes about the Hunter family’s ownership of the 1914 downtown Des Moines hotel. The sale includes memorabilia from famous people who stayed at the hotel over the years, including Charles Lindbergh, Katherine Hepburn and Tiny Tim.
