Event Oct. 27: Dubuque native Oscar-winning “Cove” documentarian to speak at ISU on “Racing Extinction”

92 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and Culture, Business Community EventsDubuque native Louie Psihoyos will present “Racing Extinction” at 8 p.m. Oct. 27, in the Iowa State University Memorial Union’s Great Hall. The speech is free and open to the public. Psihoyos won an Oscar in 2010 for “The Cove,” which was about dolphin-hunting in Japan. He also is founder and executive director of the Oceanic Preservation Society, a nonprofit organization that creates film, photography and media that inspire people to save the oceans. His new documentary, “Racing Extinction,”premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this year and draws attention to endangered species.
