Iowa housing permits well below pre-recession levels

76 wordsAll Latest News, Real Estate and DevelopmentPermits to build single-family and multifamily housing in Iowa remain well below their pre-recession highs, according to data compiled by the Iowa Legislative Services Agency. Single-family permits peaked at 12,962 in January 2006 and fell to a recession low of 4,813 in May 2009. Through Oct. 30, 7,019 permits had been issued. The annual number of permits has been declining since the fourth quarter of 2013. Permits for multifamily housing also remain below the pre-recession high.
