The Iowa Economic Development Authority granted $414,103 in high quality job tax credits for Des Moines-based Electrical Power Products Inc. and Electro Management Corp.’s planned $15 million manufacturing and shipping facility near Southwest 42nd Street and Army Post Road. The companies, headed by Britt Baker, manufacture power management systems for commercial and utility industries for power generation, transmission and distribution. Their main products are relay and control panels, integrated control enclosures and switch gear. Plans call for an 184,000-square-foot production facility. The companies will retain an estimated 250 jobs and received tax incentives for seven new jobs paying at least $26.72 per hour. After creating an urban renewal district to accommodate the construction, the Des Moines City Council approved a tax increment financing package of 100 percent of the value of improvements for the first four years and 50 percent for the next 13 years. The companies have outgrown their current facility at 1800 Hull Ave.
