Donning a short and sparkly black cocktail dress, Liberté Chan, a meteorologist at KTLA, the CW affiliate in Los Angeles, was just about to start giving the forecast when a co-worker interrupted her and handed her a sweater to cover up.

Was it a joke? Was it body shaming? Was it sexism? The responses are divided, even following Chan’s response to viewers on her blog. However, #Sweatergate, as it was dubbed, succeeded in reigniting the debate surrounding office attire, what is or is not appropriate, and if there’s a double standard for women in the workplace.
