The ospreys have returned to their nest atop a 55-foot pole on the Wells Fargo campus, and there are already three eggs on the nest, Wells Fargo spokesman Steve Carlson said. The live osprey cam is up and running to see the nest, where the eggs are expected to begin to hatch around June 6. Wells Fargo created the nesting site last year with the help of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources after the birds had nested in 2014 atop the counterweights of a construction crane during an expansion project. Last year two osprey chicks hatched from the nest, one of which survived and migrated to South America, according to the Pat Schlarbaum with theDNR. That young osprey could migrate to Iowa next year, he said. There are now 26 nesting pairs of ospreys in Iowa, up from 22 last year.
