A community recreation center under construction at the Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny will be named Trail Point Aquatics & Wellness. Scheduled to open in early 2017, the recreation center will offer public memberships for $55 for individuals and $77 for families, with a sliding scale payment available based on family income. DMACC had announced in March that it would not partner with the Greater Des Moines YMCA to operate the center. Trail Point will include an eight-lane competition swimming pool and zero-entry family pool with water feature, physical therapy pool and related services, a one-tenth-mile track that overlooks the two gymnasiums with two full-sized basketball courts, exercise and cycling studios, exercise and strength training equipment, racquetball courts, a coffee bar and family seating area. Child care services will also be available while members are on-site and using the facility.
