This shouldn’t come as a surprise to walkers and bicyclists on the Meredith Trail, but there is a townhome project coming out of the ground on the north side of the Raccoon River and the first units should be available by Labor Day. Hubbell Realty Co.’s 5Fifty5 development on Southwest Seventh Street is situated to provide future residents with access to the trail. The first units will be available about the same time that restoration efforts are completed on the historic Fifth Street Bridge across the Raccoon, providing an important river crossing for people using the trail. Hubbell spokesman Richard Dedor said 5Fifty5 will be completed in phases between September and next February. As with many of Hubbell’s downtown projects, there is a waiting list of people who want to take up residence at 5Fifty5, he said. Click here to learn more about the project and click here to learn more about the history of the Fifth Street Bridge.
