Hubbell Realty Co. will take a third element of its Bridge District development east of the Des Moines River and south of Interstate 235 to the Des Moines Plan and Zoning Commission when it meets Thursday. With the Verve (meaning energy) 123-unit apartment building under construction, Hubbell will present a site plan for the 118-unit Velocity apartment building. The four-story building at 200 Des Moines St. will feature walk-up units, large floor plans, a rooftop patio, a resort-style pool house and a yoga room. It will have a fitness center and an area for bicycle storage and repair, a Hubbell spokesman said. Hubbell also plans a 77-stall parking garage and additional surface parking. The roughly 16-acre Bridge District is a massive redevelopment of the former River Hills Business Park. Among its features will be an out-of-commission Madison County bridge that will be repurposed as public art. In addition to the apartments, Hubbell has sold eight lots for the construction of for-sale townhomes.
