As part of our 90 Ideas in 90 minutes event, Business Record Editor Chris Conetzkey gave 10 bonus ideas of ways you can use the Business Record to help you and your business do business better. Here are the ideas:

1. Submit a press release
If your company has news to share, be sure to include the email address newsroom@bpcdm.com on your company’s press release list. This email is accessible by everyone in our newsroom and is a great way to make sure we see your news releases.

2. Learn how to get in the Business Record
I wrote a three-part series that explores some best strategies and insight into getting yourself and your business written about in the Business Record. Take a read at www.businessrecord.com/intherecord.

3. Submit Calendar events
We have a new calendar tool that we are using to help the community plan long-term events and your individual weeks. It is specifically tailored to feature business events, large community/cultural events, and key annual nonprofit events. You can submit events for free, and select events will be published in our Business Record Daily e-newsletters and in our weekly look ahead at key upcoming events. Go to businessrecord.com/calendar to submit events and check out upcoming events.

4. Submit an On the Move
If your company has new hires or promotions, you can let the business community know in our weekly On the Move section. Submit their info and photo for free at www.businessrecord.com/onthemove.

5. Make a nomination

We are always accepting nominations for our different awards programs, like 40 Under 40, Women of Influence and Sages Over 70. Nominating worthy candidates is a great way to interact with us and the community.

6: Make sure you get our Dailies
If you don’t already get our free twice-a-day e-newsletters, sign up for free at www.businessrecord.com/signup. They provide a quick executive summary of all the day’s business news and are a great, quick way to stay plugged in.

7. Register for our events
Our events are tailored specifically for the business community and are prime opportunities to learn and network with the area’s top decision-makers. You can register for our events at www.businessrecord.com/events. Here are a few to check out:
– Book of Lists unveiling: In early January, join us for the new year’s first major networking opportunity and get your own copy of the must-have Book of Lists.
– Economic forecast: A late-January luncheon panel discussion highlighting economic trends for the coming year.
– Power Breakfast series: Join us three times a year for power networking and a panel discussion on key business issues moderated by the Business Record newsroom.
– Awards ceremonies: In March, mingle with the top 40 up-and-comers under the age of 40 when we honor our Forty Under 40 class. In August, we honor key female leaders at our Women of Influence event. And dsm Magazine honors established community leaders at Sages Over 70 in November.

8. Use our archives for research
One thing I and many of our readers do when we meet with people or companies is to go to our site and simply search the person’s or the company’s name. It’s a savvy way to get a little context about what they have been in the Business Record for, or perhaps what their company has been up to. Go to www.businessrecord.com/archive.

9. Become a member
If you’re not already a Business Record member, of course we would love to have you sign up for a yearlong insider membership. A membership not only gets you the weekly Business Record and access to the content online, but also gives you access to a wealth of extra Insider content exclusively on the website, breaking news alerts, and a 15 percent discount on events just like this one. You can become a member at www.businessrecord.com/membership.

10. Meet our newsroom
Our staff is always looking to make connections with our audience. Our goal is to help you do business better, and to do that, we want to write stories that address issues, bring to light challenges, and highlight initiatives in the community. The best stories we write start as a seed from something we learn from our audience. So help us help you by getting to know the staff writer who covers your industry. We’d all love to get to meet you. Meet our staff at www.businessrecord.com/contact
