West Des Moines tops $1 billion in building permits for the first time

0 wordsAll Latest News, Real Estate and DevelopmentThe city of West Des Moines has issued more than $906 million in building permits through the first six months of the year, boosting its permit valuation to $1.2 billion for the fiscal year that ended June 30.
In June alone, Microsoft Corp. was issued a permit with a valuation of $320 million as part of the expansion of its server farm near Veterans Parkway and Iowa Highway 5. That expansion will bring Microsoft to 1.1 million square feet of construction at the site.
West Des Moines issued a total of 140 permits last month for new residential and commercial construction as well as improvements for a total valuation of $380 million. In June 2015, the city issued 108 permits with a valuation of $19 million. In 2008, West Des Moines issued a then-record $490 million in permits.
