Iowa Cultural Affairs department gives money to ‘Great Places’
The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs has awarded more than $1.3 million to projects in Des Moines, Waukee and four other Iowa cities that have been designated as Iowa Great Places. Des Moines has received a $250,000 challenge grant for phase 1 of the Sixth Avenue Corridor streetscaping and public art project. Waukee received $200,000 for its Raccoon River Valley Trail public art and cultural corridor initiative. Projects in Grinnell, Manning, Linn County and a joint effort by Hamilton and Webster counties also received funds.
