Iowa receives $4.37 million for small business acceleration fund
The U.S. Treasury Department today announced that Iowa has received $4,373,909 in State Small Business Credit Initiative funds to help small businesses access the capital they need to grow and create jobs. To date, more than $13 million in SSBCI funds have been disbursed to the Iowa Economic Development Authority to support businesses and the local economy, of which the state has deployed $8.4 million, according to the latest quarterly report. “The SSBCI program has helped us to elevate our assistance to Iowa’s entrepreneurs through the Iowa Innovation Acceleration Fund,” said Debi Durham, Iowa Economic Development Authority director. “Over the past two years, thanks to the SSBCI funds, we’ve been able to support the work of 23 small businesses that are innovating at the highest levels.” The program, created by the Small Business Jobs Act of 2010, is designed to support commercializing research, launching new start-ups and accelerating private investment and industrial expansion efforts that result in significant capital investment.
