Rockwell Collins Inc. reported first-quarter earnings of $132 million, or 96 cents per share, up from $131 million, or 94 cents in the year-ago period. Sales for the fiscal first quarter, which ended Dec. 31, totaled $1.07 billion, an increase of 1 percent from $1.06 billion for the quarter that ended Dec. 31, 2012. The Cedar Rapids-based aerospace company’s acquisition of ARINC Inc. for $1.4 billion in December contributed $6 million to sales in the first quarter. The outlook for growth in earnings per share has been increased 5 cents and is now in the $4.35 to $4.55 range, primarily due to an improved outlook for the company’s Government Systems sales. Rockwell Collins’ stock price has increased 79 percent in the past five years, according to an analysis of Iowa public companies by the Business Record.
