Wells Fargo brings greener ATMs to Iowa
Wells Fargo & Co. is rolling out a new generation of envelope-free automated teller machines (ATMs) in Des Moines and across the state, the company announced. The new ATMs don’t require customers to use an envelope when making a deposit, and they go a step further than traditional envelope-free ATMs by allowing customers to stack cash and checks together for the deposit. By the end of September, all of Wells Fargo’s 110 ATMs statewide will have the new technology. Wells Fargo has already processed 250 million checks with the new technology and estimates it has avoided the use of 235 million paper envelopes.
