U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin and Congressman Leonard Boswell will join an administrator from the Federal Transit Administration today in announcing a $10 million grant for the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART).

DART received the money from the U.S. Department of Transportation to complete funding on a new $21 million transit hub; construction is scheduled to begin early next year.

Local, state and federal officials will discuss the next steps in the project during the announcement at 3:30 p.m. at the future site of the transit hub, south of Cherry Street between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Street.
