Ankeny partners with Embria in wellness trial
In a move to boost employee wellness and decrease absenteeism, the city of Ankeny has reached an agreement with Ankeny-based Embria Health Sciences to provide city employees with supplies of the company’s immune health product EpiCor at below retail cost for the upcoming cold and flu season. Fifty-nine employees in 12 city departments have signed up to receive six months’ supplies of the product. The city is contributing 50 percent of the cost and employees will contribute the other half. “Teaming up with Embria Health Sciences to improve employee health, and therefore productivity, is a forward-thinking approach to managing and reducing health-care costs to the city’s self-funded health plan,” Assistant City Manager Jim Spradling said in a press release. Participants will complete health surveys to measure results of the program.
