Today, the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) will kick off its inaugural Friday night D-line service to Ingersoll Avenue. At 4:15 p.m., a DART trolley will pick up Des Moines City Councilwoman and DART Commissioner Christine Hensley, along with a number of local business leaders, at 801 Grand Ave. downtown. It will travel the Ingersoll portion of its route, returning downtown to Eighth and Locust streets by 4:45 p.m. The Ingersoll Business Association and the Des Moines West Side Chamber of Commerce partnered with DART to offer the free Friday night service for six weeks this fall.
