The Salisbury House Foundation has received a $125,000 Legacy Grant from Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino. The grant will be used to help fund a $1 million repair and restoration project at the historic museum and cultural center in Des Moines. Badly deteriorated interior limestone walls in the Great Hall will receive restoration work begin early in 2011 while additional matching funds are secured to complete other critical repairs. The funds will assist in matching a state historic preservation grant of $100,000 and a federal Save America’s Treasures grant of $400,000, which both require a 100 percent match from other sources.
