Drake University today announced two gifts totaling $4.5 million as part of its distinctlyDrake fundraising campaign, which puts the total at over $80 million raised out of the $200 million goal for the capital campaign.

Morgan Cline, a 1953 Drake pharmacy graduate, is providing $2.5 million to construct an atrium building that will link Morgan E. Cline Hall of Pharmacy and Science to Harvey Ingham Hall.

The facility will be used as an informal gathering place for students. Herb Baum, a 1958 graduate, and his wife, Karen, made a $2 million donation to endow the Herb and Karen Baum Chair of Ethics and the Professions, a position in which faculty members will guide students in ethical decision-making.
