Iowa Transportation Commission approves funding
The Iowa Transportation Commission yesterday approved more than $17.5 million in funding for projects throughout the state in five separate program categories.
The awards included:
– More than $4.6 million for projects from Iowa’s Clean Air Attainment Program, including:
– $600,000 to the city of Des Moines for a Beaver Avenue/Urbandale Avenue intersection roundabout;
– $320,000 to the city of Waukee for a traffic signal system network;
– $349,690 to the city of Johnston for a Merle Hay Road traffic signal interconnection;
– $256,511 to the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) for Route No. 7 Fort Des Moines/Hubbell Service improvements;
– $45,629 to DART for Route No. 11 Ingersoll Avenue/West Des Moines/Jordan Creek service improvements;
– $353,600 to the city of West Des Moines for a Traffic Adaptive Signal Control System;
– $400,000 to the city of Clive for NW 142nd Street and Hickman Road intersection improvements.
The commission also approved:
– $5 million for transit rolling stock replacement under the fiscal year 2010 federal Bus and Bus Facilities Program, which will be distributed to 17 transit agencies across the state to replace 50 vehicles;
– More than $5.1 million in funding for 14 statewide Transportation Enhancement Program projects to improve trail and bicycle facilities, scenic and environmental amenities and historic and archeological resources;
– More than $1.75 million in funding for 19 Safe Routes to Schools projects;
– More than $1.14 million in funding for five federal Recreational Trails Program projects.
